'Star' is a Toggenburg / Anglo Nubian cross and produces large volumes of milk each day since she has been separated from her kid, 'Alara'.
Pastured separately from any male, her milk is untainted and without any associated smells/tastes that one sometimes associates with goats milk.
She's a strong milker, her milk is strained and frozen while still warm to ensure freshness. There is an occasional surplus of this milk which we sell in 2 litre containers
Medicinal Uses in the PastShe ranges freely - all you have to do is look at what was once our lovely beech hedge, to see how freely! She browses a wide variety of grasses, herbs and shrubs in old pasture that has not been fertilised nor has had any chemicals sprayed on it since the mid 80's. Goats milk is known to contain naturally occurring compounds derived from this type of browsing and grazing and has been used in the past to relieve the suffering caused by eczema, asthma and other allergic reactions due to environmental pollens etc.
Naturally Homogenised MilkA naturally homogenised raw milk, it alkalises the digestive system and is a natural remedy to ease suffering caused by ulcers. It contains many bio active components that retard the growth of harmful organisms and is especially useful for those on constant medication or after a course of antibiotics.
Goats Milk UsesThis milk is perfect in it's natural state for cheese-making or a starter can be added if it is home pasturised. Whether required as a beverage or an ingredient to make cheese, it is available for sale in very limited quantities, frozen in 2 litre containers. Please email us through the Contact page to arrange collection. Cost: €2.00 per litre.
